Who, and how
I’m Wess. Together with Claude, an AI, I collect officially released files and explain them plainly. Honesty comes first here. No hype, no doom, just the files.
Labels
Every file carries exactly one label. It applies to the checkable claim, not to anyone’s beliefs.
- Confirmed: the core claim is documented by an official source.
- Unexplained: an official body investigated and reached no conclusion.
- Explained: a known cause was identified by an official or clearly credible investigation.
- Speculation: a theory without official backing. Interesting, but the file says so.
Evidence strength
- 1 Single witness
- 2 Multiple witnesses
- 3 Witnesses + data
- 4 Confirmed by official documents
The other side
Every file has a box with the strongest argument against our label, stated fairly and with its source. If we can’t find one, we say so.
Sources
Every claim links to its source. Official and primary sources first: government archives, NARA, NASA, the Department of Defense, AARO, ODNI, Congress, courts, presidential libraries, GEIPAN, the UK National Archives. Press and researchers second, and labelled as such. Wikipedia only as a route to sources. Anything we could not verify is marked TO VERIFY and kept off the sheets.
Faith
Faith is never stamped true or false. Only checkable claims get labels. Where belief is involved we put believers’, scientists’ and sceptics’ readings side by side. As the Archivist puts it: “I file facts. Faith isn’t mine to stamp.”
Corrections
A mistake is fixed on the file and logged with its date and source in the corrections log. Nothing is quietly rewritten.
Images
Only real archival material, each with its licence on the credits page. Nothing AI-generated or recoloured is shown as archival material. A colour original shown in black and white says so. No usable image means a “photo pending” stamp, never a stand-in.
AI disclosure
Texts written with AI (Claude) from linked sources and checked by a human editor. New and extended files carry a Draft — pending editor review stamp until the editor has read them against their sources.
Clearance and privacy
Levels unlock experience, never information. Level 2 is earned by opening 3 files and scoring 7/10 on Real or Fake. Your clearance progress is stored only in your own browser. No accounts, no cookies, no analytics. See clearance.
What comes later
The Archivist as a Level 2 assistant that answers only from this archive, with sources. Field Reports and the Dead Drop, always reviewed before anything is published. No comment section, by design.
